Happy New Year

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

I always look forward to celebrating the beginning of a new calendar year, and I pray you share the same sentiment. A new year provides an opportunity to reflect on the past year’s successes, as well as challenges in all aspects of our lives. A new year is filled with the opportunity to draw closer to the Lord, to love family and friends more, and to make work more fruitful. I have some exciting news about some of the work the Catholic Community Foundation completed in 2019 to prepare for 2020. “2020” not only marks a new year but is the beginning of a new decade of growth for the Catholic Community Foundation. As we enter our fourth decade of service, we continue to strengthen our mission to promote the Catholic faith by building community resources that last beyond our lifetime.

Part of last year’s effort included the reformulation of the Foundation’s financial offerings and an organizational rebranding initiative. I am thrilled to share the Catholic Community Foundation’s refreshed logo with you all. Based on the data we collected from a comprehensive survey, it was clear that the Foundation was in need of updated branding and messaging. We feel this new logo reflects the true meaning of the Foundation because it incorporates an optimized representation of our mission at CCF.

The symbolism of the logo:

  • The Fish (Ichthys - Jesus Christ, Son of God, Savior) is one of the most prominent symbols of Christianity. The symbol of the fish has many meanings and Feeding the Multitude - Gospel translation of providing for the community, is but one of them.
  • The Fishers of Men (Jesus’ Disciples)
  • Perpetuity
  • The Cross is centered and situated on a mountain signifying Calvary. The cross is also within the star with the rays from the flag signifying the Resurrection of Jesus. The star, rays, and colors are a direct representation of the Arizona flag.
  • Saguaro cacti and Monument Valley signify traditional Arizona icons.

We have been actively working on developing an initiative to help us improve our messaging and presence in the community. The launch of this new logo is an integral piece in our strategic plan. I hope you share our enthusiasm for the symbolism this logo represents. I pray that the year 2020 and certainly the decade to come, is filled with an abundance of Grace for you.

In Christ,
Deacon James Carabajal
