This scripture reminds us that we all bear witness to the absolute sanctity of human life. The right to life extends to every human being, from conception to natural death. Abortion, euthanasia, and capital punishment are among the affronts to the sanctity of life our world faces today. The Catholic Community Foundation is dedicated to supporting services that safeguard and advocate for the sanctity of life and has helped health clinics, pregnancy centers, elder care providers, and more to build new facilities, hire and train new staff, and acquire supplies for vulnerable clients. The Life Forever Fund helps provide support and funding to organizations who focus on the sanctity of life.
“Even in the midst of difficulties and uncertainties, every person sincerely open to truth and goodness can, by the light of reason and the hidden action of grace, come to recognize in the natural law written in the heart the sacred value of human life from its very beginning until its end, and can affirm the right of every human being to have this primary good respected to the highest degree. Upon the recognition of this right, every human community and the political community itself are founded.”
– St. Pope John Paul II, Evangelium Vitae
There is no teaching more central to the Gospel than the absolute sanctity of human life. “Do you not know that you are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?” (1 Corinthians 3:16) This question calls out to us from scripture, reminding us that we are all sacred simply by virtue of our humanity. As such, the right to life extends to every human being regardless of age or circumstance, from conception to natural death.
Abortion, euthanasia, and capital punishment are among the affronts to the sanctity of life our world faces today. It is those whose voices are not or cannot be heard who most need our voice to defend the sacred Image of God within them. When Pope Francis speaks of the tragic rise of a “throwaway culture” in which many human beings are treated as disposable, he is referencing society’s indifference to those whose humanity is so often forgotten or ignored.
The unnatural termination of any single life is a tragedy, so the roughly 800,000 abortions every year in the United States – including around 14,000 in Arizona – are a call to action, as are the myriad ways that the humanity is stripped from those relegated to the margins of society, such as the large and often-neglected elderly population in Arizona. We grieve this loss of life and denial of the fullness of life, and we seek to address these issues by bringing the sense of hope, compassion, and love to which we are called by our Catholic faith.
The Catholic Community Foundation seeks to empower all women and men of good will to support those carrying forward this life-giving message of hope in our community by providing financial support to a wide range of Catholic and Catholic-allied ministries. At the Catholic Community Foundation, our donors and our recipient organizations succeed together: Our prudent, long-term investing practices empower you to grow your charitable gifts so that you can devote excess profits to these important works of the Church.
In order to keep these Catholic services functioning during both stable and unstable times, the Catholic Community Foundation has established a set of endowments known as our Forever Funds, each dedicated to a particular area of concern for the Catholic faithful. And thanks to our innovative Giving Circle granting model, our donors are able to harness their collective resources and remain active participants in the community grant-making process.
Our Life Forever Fund is dedicated to supporting services that safeguard and advocate for the sanctity of life. The impact of our Life grants is being felt by people across our community, empowering health clinics, pregnancy centers, elder care providers, and more to build new facilities, hire and train new staff, and acquire supplies for vulnerable clients, all ultimately in the service of the promotion of life.
However, despite the Catholic Community Foundation's successes, there are always more people who require these services. With an estimated need of $44,335 going unmet in this sector each year, your support can make the difference between hope and despair, even between life and death. You can help CCF reach its endowment goal of $6,000,000 for its Life Forever Fund so that we can provide steady annual disbursements of $240,000 to life-sustaining community agencies – funds they can count on even when economic downturns leave other funding streams dry. In this way, we seek to follow the model of Jesus, who is there for his people in all times, but especially in the times that challenge us most.

This grant has made a difference in helping mothers choose life for their child. Like the ultrasound where a mother sees her baby for the first time, prenatal vitamins are another way a mother can bond with her baby after she leaves our clinic. If she is abortion-vulnerable, vitamins are a simple reminder to care for the life within her.

The CCF Life Forever Fund is an endowment. Endowments are financial investment vehicles designed to withstand economic instabilities through sensible investing practices. An endowment continues to grow while earnings are distributed each year to the named cause, in this case, funding nonprofits who advocate for the sanctity of life.
